Erana Kratounis is a New Media artist and animator who lives and works in New York City. With a blend of 'nature' intelligence, a devotion to animism and panpsychism, and a love of technology – she offers digital explorations of gossamers just beyond perception.
Born in New York City, Erana grew up with little exposure to nature, which paradoxically drew her lifelong imaginings towards it. Inspired by ALL fellow earthlings, as well as the cycles of nature, the fluidity of seasons, the physical and metaphysical, earth religions, ancient knowledge, color and sound, Erana’s work is imbued with the same meditative quality as stepping into nature itself - transporting the viewer into the 'present.' Take a moment, breathe it in, and the veil of separateness thins.
Exploring the intersections of technology, nature, and spirituality, Erana's work engages the viewer on multi-sensory levels. Her work has been featured in several physical and virtual exhibitions including: 13 Trees, a solo exhibition, NYC 2024 – Regen•era Rising 2, San Fransisco, CA 2024 – Buckminster Fuller Institute 40th Anniversary Celebration, San Francisco, CA 2023 – Regen•era Rising, Magic City, Art in Miami Week/Art Basel, Miami, FL 2021 – One More Thing, NYC 2022; Code, Paper, Scissors, NYC 2019 – New Art City (virtual) 2022 – Design Science Studio: Dissolve & Bloom (virtual) 2022 & 2024 & Invisible/Visible (virtual) 2022 & 2024.
